SRCD Pre-conference Meeting
April 30, 2025
Hilton, Minneapolis
Minneapolis, MN
This meeting brought together researchers and practitioners whose work promotes well-being in children and families through contemplative practices (e.g., mindfulness, compassion, self-compassion). The goal was to engage a larger, more diverse, and global audience with this area of research and foster interest among the next generation of scholars. Established and emerging investigators presented novel research, shared research directions, stimulated discussion, and expanded or built networks, developing a collaborative research agenda. Symposia, flash talks, and posters focused on four themes: (1) Families Experiencing Adversity and Stress, (2) Parent Well-being and Parent-Child Relationships, (3) Mindfulness in School Settings, and (4) Mindfulness and Self-Compassion with Children, Youth, and Young Adults. Each theme addressed diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice, with a focus on historically marginalized populations, community-based implementation, and discussions of future directions for fostering inclusiveness.
