Drop-in Session: A Yoga Practice for Releasing Tension

Robyn Long, MA, E-RYT

About this Event

In this session, we will share a yoga practice with postures that can release tension in the neck, shoulders, and back. This sequence will also allow us to build awareness about habitual movement patterns and take steps to preventing future tension. We will end with a guided breath practice and meditation. This session is based on the teachings of Sir Desikachar, who emphasized individualizing yoga to each person’s unique needs.

Note: You do not need a yoga mat for this session. You will want a) a blanket or towel to place under your knees for support during kneeling postures; and b) a yoga strap, or long scarf/belt. Robyn will offer modifications in the poses for common aches such as mild back or neck pain. However, if you have any injuries, or acute or chronic pain, please consult your physician before doing yoga poses.
