Event Title: Parent CARE Course

Event Description:

Parent CARE Class Live & Online
Caring for ourselves as we care for our loved ones and each other.

Are you feeling overwhelmed and stressed out as a parent, grandparent, or caregiver ? Are you struggling to know how to help yourself and loved ones flourish in these anxiety filled times? Do you wish you had more tools to navigate your own emotions and connect with your loved ones in a healthier, more mindful way? Our 9-week wellbeing course called Parent CARE is here to help!

In this class, you’ll learn about relational mindfulness – the practice of bringing awareness and presence to our relationships with others. You’ll discover how to work with emotions in a healthy way, and how to create more meaningful, fulfilling connections with the people you care about. You will also learn what we call “we skills” to help you prepare yourself and your loved ones to live more and more in community with one another.

Let’s build community! This class is designed to be a supportive, welcoming community where you can connect with others who are also on the journey towards better emotional and relational wellbeing. In small personalized cohorts, you’ll have the opportunity to share your experiences, ask questions, and receive guidance and encouragement from both Kelly and peers.

So if you’re ready to take the next step towards a happier, healthier life for you and your loved ones, join us for Parent CARE and start building the skills you need to thrive.

Launching Monday, January 23, 2023 at 9:00 AM PT
Parent CARE has been primarily offered only to schools and organizations but starting January 23rd, Kelly will be teaching it for the first time to the public, live and online.

Cohorts Already Coming Together!
The response to this class has been overwhelmingly positive. We can confirm we already have a thriving grandparent cohort (which our beloved Yaffa Maritz will be helping lead). We have a dad, grandfather, or anyone else who identifies as male group, we have a BIPOC group, a group for parents of littles and a group for parents whose kids are struggling with mental health or addiction. Also, we have some regional groups forming. There is still plenty of room and time for you and any new cohorts so if you are interested in creating a cohort among your friends, let us know!

GIFT FOR FAMILY MEMBERS
We also have gift cards available for you to give Parent CARE as a gift this holiday season. Contact liveparentcare@gmail.com to purchase the gift of wellbeing for someone you love.

MORE ABOUT KELLY

Meet Kelly Conroy Moore, a highly qualified and experienced clinical social worker with over 30 years of experience as a family and youth therapist. With a PHD and Master’s degree in clinical social work, Kelly has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field. She has also served as the Director of Learning Support and Counseling for a decade.

Kelly is passionate about family wellbeing and is dedicated to helping parents, grandparents, and caregivers navigate the challenges of raising and supporting children, youth, and young adults. In addition to her work, Kelly enjoys everything from meditation and yoga to gardening and golf. She’s a mean cook and brings a sense of humor, vulnerability, and compassion to her teaching style.

Kelly believes deeply in the importance of caring for caregivers and has been honored to be a part of birthing such a large and supportive community. She is committed to supporting and empowering those who dedicate their lives to the wellbeing of others and has been heartbroken by the lack of support offered to parents, grandparents and other caregivers of our youth.

FAQ
  • How much does this class cost?
    • This Parent CARE course is $295.  Our goal is to offer the course to anyone who wants to join us and are committed to cost not being a barrier. Please email liveparentcare@gmail.com for information on our sliding scale fee and scholarship program.
  • Can I give this course to a loved one as a gift?
  • Can you tell me more about the cohorts?
    • Cohorts will be small – roughly around 12 people. Your cohort will remain the same each week in order to foster a deep sense of community. We have some cohorts from prior Parent CARE classes who have stayed together for over 6 years and continue to meet weekly!
    • You will have the opportunity to share with us what you would like from your cohort. For example, if you are coming in as an already existing group, if you’d like to take part in an affinity based cohort (for example, a BIPOC group, LGBTQI group, parents/caregivers of neurodiverse children, Mandarin speaking groups) or if you are a grandparent, you will be grouped accordingly. After you register, we will send out a survey asking about your preferences.
  • Can I take this course with my friends or a community with whom I already belong?
    • Yes! Once you and your community have signed up, you can note that you would all like to be a part of the same cohort.
  • Can I sign up for this course on my own without knowing anyone else?
    • Yes! You will be added to a cohort in which you will discuss and unpack the lessons. Most of our courses offered in schools and organizations start with no one knowing each other at first. The experience of most folks who have joined our course in the past is that very quickly they find themselves feeling very connected to their group quickly.
  • I can’t make a few of the classes? Can I still join?
    • We know life happens and you may have to miss one or two sessions.  The good news is we will record each session. The cohort break out groups will not be recorded, however,  so if you know you will not be able to attend most of the groups, perhaps you want to wait for this course to be offered again.
  • I am a grandparent and not a primary caregiver, can I join?
    • YES! We are already confident we will have a grandparent cohort so PLEASE sign up. We have deep and abiding love for grandparents and see their roles as  invaluable. Our beloved, Yaffa Maritz will be facilitating the grandparent cohort.
