Equipping communities with tools to promote well-being
Innovative prevention approaches are needed to address the significant rise in the number of children, youth, young adults and parents experiencing emotional, behavioral and mental health challenges. Many families seek support from trusted individuals and organizations in their community with whom they already have a relationship.
CCFW has established collaborative relationships with a robust network of community organizations, including perinatal and early childhood providers, organizations offering youth out-of-school services, health-care providers, and college campuses. Our aim is to share and evaluate our prevention programs in these settings. The goal is to equip staff in these settings with prevention programs and resources so that more children, youth, and families will have access to mental health support.
In this task-sharing approach, community providers receive training and resources to offer prevention interventions or to incorporate practices from our prevention programs into their work to support child, youth, and family well-being. Task-sharing enhances access to prevention, increases acceptability as programs are delivered by trusted providers, and makes scaling programs feasible.
