A scientifically-based program that enhances physical and mental well-being, as well as relationships with others. Participants will learn ways to apply awareness and self-kindness in their daily life through experiential exercises, short talks, and interactive group discussions.
In this four-week program, participants will learn RAIN, an empowering meditation practice designed to help you deal with life’s stresses and difficulties. Popularized by the well-known author and meditation expert Tara Brach, the practice of RAIN helps build the capacity to widen the window of tolerance for managing emotional tangles. Using mind-body practices, RAIN fosters emotional healing by gently encouraging you to turn toward your own vulnerabilities with loving awareness and self-compassion.

“Short Moments, Many Times a Day” summarizes recent scientific evidence demonstrating the benefits of making use of brief practices throughout the day for a new way of living. Much of the day, we are on autopilot, mindlessly carrying out longstanding habits of behavior and thought patterns. New research shows benefits of recognizing our automatic habit loops, and meeting them with curious and kind attention as well as compassion (intention to ease suffering). This session will offer a summary of leading-edge research, and include some brief practices. If time allows, R.E.S.T. meditation practice will also be offered.
Based on the evidenced-based curriculum of Mindful Self Compassion for adolescents, the Mindful Schools curriculum, and principles of positive psychology; this 8-week experiential program for teens provides practices and tools to manage stress, increase feelings of happiness and well-being, and promote emotional resilience. In each weekly session, we will discuss concepts related to well-being and do a variety of practices, including mindfulness practices, intentional movement, and creative projects.
